Transforming Extended Entity - Relationship Model into Object - Relational Database using Triple Graph Grammars

چکیده
The entity-relationship and extended entity-relationship have been the most popular paradigms for conceptual database design. However, with the appearance of a new generation Object-relational database and UML, conceptual database modeling using the EER approach has not attracted much interest, although the EER model is still powerful when working with object-oriented databases. Therefore in this thesis we proposed a transformation method for ORDB based on the EER model. The transformation rules are defined using triple graph grammars, and represented in the MOFLON TGG editor. To verify the proposed method, we analyze the completeness and correctness of the model transformation, Following triple graph grammar rules, our proposed method can be applied in automatic ORDB development frameworks. Using Graph Grammars for Building the Varlet Database Reverse Engineering Environment
This paper reports on the usage of graph grammar theory and systems for building the Varlet database reverse engineering environment. The Varlet environment supports analysis of legacy relational database systems, translation of the relational schema into a conceptual object-oriented schema, interactive enhancement of the conceptual schema and translation of relational data into the resulting o...
متن کاملTranslating Relational Schema with Constraints into Xml Schema
With XML adopted as technology trend on the Internet, and with investment in the current relational database systems, companies must convert their relational data into XML documents for data transmission on the Internet. In the process, to preserve the users’ relational data requirements of data constraints into the converted XML documents, we must define a meaningful root element for each XML ...
متن کاملAn Overview of the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory Extended Entity-Relationship Database Tools
In this overview we brieey describe a collection of tools developed at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory (LBL) for aiding users in specifying database structures and in querying databases using object-oriented concepts on top of commercial relational database management systems. These tools are based on an Extended Entity-Relationship (EER) model and allow users to deal with concise EER structures a...
متن کاملTowards Domain Completeness for Model Transformations Based on Triple Graph Grammars
The analysis of model transformations is a challenging research area within model driven engineering. Triple graph grammars (TGGs) have been applied in various transformation scenarios and their formal foundation has been a vital ground for general results concerning notions of correctness and completeness. This paper addresses existing gaps between practical scenarios and the formal results of...
متن کاملEnriching the ER model based on discovered association rules
The entity–relationship (ER) model, a powerful means for business and data modeling, needs to be enriched with new semantics as the real world changes and its understanding improves. This paper attempts at enriching the ER model based on association rules (AR) discovered from large databases by introducing specializations and sub-types into the ER model. The proposed framework is extended to de...
